It’s never too late to start a new day, a new job, or a new adventure.
I’m doing all of those, and I’m super excited! I hope you’ll come along.
Today I’m launching my new Web site and a new blog. Visit me here and sign up for my newsletter. http://www.sunnijeffers.com I promise I won’t inundate you with emails. I’m still adding content, but I’m ready to rock-and-roll. I’m beginning a new phase, a step-up in my career, reinventing myself. I’m not retired, I’m repurposed—a new purpose and a new journey.
I’m not retired, I’m repurposed—
What brought all this on? I’ve had a nice, comfortable writing career with moderate success. Fourteen books released in thirteen years. Not bad. Things kind of stalled out this year. No new contracts. At the same time, life was hard. We lost our son-in-law in a fast battle with cancer. We were involved in his care, and we were worn out and grieving, emotionally and physically.
“when you don’t know what to do, pick up your socks”
We came home, after nine months living in our motorhome, and collapsed. I was in limbo. No direction and no energy. A friend shared with me, “when you don’t know what to do, pick up your socks.” Do the little things.” I could do that, so I went through the days, but kept thinking there had to be more.
One morning as I was reading my Bible, I came across this verse:
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19 (The Bible, New Living Translation)
“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun!”
Wow! That was a wake-up call. That doesn’t happen very often, but there it was. I knew in that moment that things were about to change. Was I ready?
This song has been going through my mind a lot lately. It’s my inspiration as this new journey begins. I’ll be writing stories that I’ve been thinking about for a long time while I wrote the books my publisher wanted. I hope you’ll join me on this journey, and just maybe get some inspiration to start your own new journey.
“The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes.”
Song by Matt Redman
